Wings for Life World Run 2025

By now, the Wings for Life run for people who can’t run themselves is now a firm date in our annual calendar. Post-corona, there are also pack runs in many locations in addition to the app runs, but as chance would have it, we were in Cornwall on 4 May 2025. There was no joint run there – but one of the most beautiful running and cycling routes ever for me: the Camel Trail near Bodmin.

Did it. Wings for Life run 2025 on the Camel Trail

The weather was ideal and the run was simply beautiful. I achieved the goal I had set myself and with all the other 310,717 people who took part, we ended up running 2,639,348.18 Kilometres! But the best thing is that we raised an incredible 8.6 million Euros! The whole 100% of this sum will go to spinal cord research to find a cure for these injuries. That makes you a little bit proud. Next year’s run will take place on 10 May. Take part!

Running for those who can’t: my fourth Wings for Life charity run

On 5 May, I took part in the Wings for Life charity run (the app version) for the fourth time, and it was another unforgettable experience. The thought of thousands of runners around the world joining together for a good cause and running at the same time is remarkable. From the start to the moment the chaser car catches up with you (you can read about this on the Wings for Life website), you can feel the energy and enthusiasm for this event. And the cheers from the virtual coaches are funny and helpful – a real incentive.

Movembervideo

Hello everybody,

the game is afoot! Thanks for the help I received fine-tuning the technicalities and also for the first donations! And here is the video.

By the way: whatever the button says when you are on the English donation page: I do not collect any money personally. Every donation goes ‘dreckly to the Movember foundation Just saying, because the German button says “Donation for Jörg”. That is a little ambigous.

“And how did you know?”

Almost everyone has asked me just that when I’ve told them I’ve been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

“I Didn’t.”

“?”

“You don’t notice it, or you don’t notice it until it’s advanced.”

“OK, so how did you know then?”

“PSA level had gone up.”

“The what level?”

I could continue the dialogue for quite some time. But just so you don’t have to read on for so long here are the two key messages:

Number one, of course, goes only to men and is, “Get your PSA level checked regularly.”

The second (but you don’t have to be a man for this): I’m asking you, now, in November 2023, to make a small donation to the Movember Foundation, which works worldwide to raise funds for testicular and prostate cancer research and cure and distribute them to national research institutions.

You can donate by scanning the QR code in the pictute at the top or by clicking here: https://movember.com/m/14780321?mc=1

OK, so if you do want to read on, I’ll tell you a bit more about my motivations and back story.
